Crosscreek Farm is pleased to announce
our farm is now Animal Welfare Approved.
The AWI seal means to consumers that our farm raises its livestock using humane standards
from birth to processing.
This
process is very different from commercial livestock operations.
Our hogs have never had their wolf teeth broken out, their tails docked, or their noses ringed,
and are on pasture 365 days per year. The boar is not kept isolated, and all animals have access to sunshine, shade,
creeks and mud. Our hogs have a wonderful life, and are not loaded or unloaded using hot zappers, or other cruel
methods. We do not give our livestock antibiotics, or animal byproducts. Our heritage breed hogs thrive outdoors
on pasture and are slow grown with twice daily grainings, as well as supplemented with fruits & vegetables, creating lean and delicious meat for our family and yours.
Our cattle are treated humanely as well, grown on pasture, grained daily, and never given antibiotics or growth
hormones. Unlike commercial operations, they are not shipped to a feedlot operation and corn fed until butchered.
Our steers remain on pasture, and eat the grasses their rumens were made for. Our steers are jersey, angus or holstein
crossed breeds, raised on our wonderful jersey milk - and are not dehorned, nor are they castrated beyond 7 days of age.
Our natural pork &
grass-fed beef is low-fat, free of chemicals and antibiotics - and comes from happy and healthy animals. From our family
to yours - to your health!
